SUMMARY:Building Your Business Through An Equity Lens
DESCRIPTION:IN-PERSON EVENT: This session will help entrepreneurs create equitable business cultures and practices for the present and future. \nTHIS WILL BE AN IN-PERSON EVENT HELD AT ASCENDER.\n***Proof of vaccination and masks are required to attend the event.*** \nMore than ever\, organizations are not only expected to grapple with centuries of structural discrimination—their sustainability requires it. Traditional “Diversity & Inclusion” initiatives continue to fail underrepresented populations\, as well as organizations seeking transformative change. For true diversity and inclusion\, organizations must address more comprehensively their internal structures by intentionally centering the needs of those negatively impacted by these systems. \nThis FREE 1.5-hour interactive workshop facilitated by Amber Thompson\, founder of de-bias\, will help entrepreneurs: \n\nIdentify inequities in their industry\, region\, and organization\nEstablish policies\, procedures\, and practices that commit to equitable principles and values\nRetool and strategize to mitigate creating future problems or the perpetuation of existing problems

Our featured facilitator\, Connie Plaucka\, Vice President\, Consulting at Catalyst Connection\, will walk us through considerations and tips that contribute to having a smooth start to manufacturing your business’s products. In addition to highlighting trends to watch for in 2022\, Connie will also discuss how to prepare for success when approaching and establishing an agreement with a manufacturer. \nDon’t miss this virtual event if you are an entrepreneur or small business owner who has a product that needs to be manufactured and want to learn from an experienced leader. \nAt the end of this free 1-hour session\, you’ll walk away with: \n\nAn understanding of what’s needed to get an idea to a point where it’s ready for production\nBest practices for small businesses and startups as they begin to seek out potential manufacturers\nAn overview of Catalyst Connection and ways the organization can help small businesses accelerate their path to production\nGeneral business/manufacturing trends to anticipate and prepare for in 2022\n\nFeaturing: \nConnie Plaucka is Vice President\, Consulting at Catalyst Connection. Connie joined Catalyst Connection in 2005 and brings over 25 years of global sales\, business development\, and product development experience to her role as the Managing Director of Regional Initiatives. She also works with regional academic institutions\, economic development organizations\, and regional manufacturers to build new capabilities and help make Southwestern Pennsylvania a model for the nation. \nHer experience includes developing and executing global sales strategies\, implementing stage-gate product development programs\, and leading the execution of various strategic initiatives ranging from technology development and commercialization\, internal process improvement\, and building alliances to achieve strategic goals. Prior to joining Catalyst Connection\, Ms. Palucka was employed by Callery Chemical Co.\, Zeton-Altamira\, GE Reuter-Stokes\, and Westinghouse.
